    Almost invincible at it's sides
    It is of highest value
will boost your whole teams spirits
but requires the loss of a younger cousin

EDIT: Is it the Rinoa card? She has AA defense on the sides and can be refined into 3 Magic Armlets, which boost Spirit by 60%.

The Rinoa card fits lines 2 and 3 as it has A's on both sides and refines into 3 Magic Armlets which teach Spr+60%. Not too sure about the rest though.

    spot on
Almost invincible at it's sides (A on each side)
It is of highest value (level 10 card)
will boost your whole teams spirits (refines into Magic Armlets)
but requires the loss of a younger cousin (need to lose a fellow rare card (Ifrit) as a prerequisite)

Beats me who got it first

BG-57 edited his post 7 minutes after I posted, but I can't think of anything at the moment so he can go.

    Go ahead, Endless Twillight.

My fault for editing my guess into an unrelated post.

EDIT: Bah, my timing is lousy today.

    Which FF Character Are You?

The ex-Garden students who guards Winhill?

    They stay up together
Keeping a sharp lookout - Duh.
    But they are not alone
For a garden is nearby - Galbadia Garden isn't that close, but maybe.
