stay on top of the bahamut cave with the lunar whale and then go north to the northeasrtern part of the moon then you'll see a smiley face. I have the GBA version and I'm not sure if it will work on the PS2.

That's the Maoi statue, which has appeared in many ffs, the first being this one.
Funny, since when I was ten and played FFIIe all the time, I always thought that the Maoi had some sort of secret.And they put the secret dungeon below it
Not the lunar dungeon if thats what you meant> It's made out of a mountain and craters around the bottom and two at the top. TRY IT BY BEING AT TOP OF THE BAHAMUT CAVE AND FLY ONLY NORTH AND NOT TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT :rabite: :mario::shoot:
