    Post Phantasy Star Universe

Yes, Phantasy Star Universe was delayed. Delayed into a far time away we like to call: "Many months away." In the mean time, why not read about it? I have gathered much info for you to read.

    The Character Creation

As you probably already know, the character creation will allow you to change "From glasses to sock color", as stated by sega. But judging from video's (Video's at bottom of forum post), it goes beyond that. Here is a list of the choices I have seen from the video's:

    Gender (Duh.)
    Race (Androids, Humans, etc.)
Face Proportion (That includes things like Eye-Size.)
Eye-brow type (You can make your character look like they ran into Anti just by switching their eye-brow type. )
Body Proportion (Height, muscle, fat, etc.)
    Pants Type
    Shirt Type
    Coat type (Yup.)
    Sock Type
Ear-Type (They don't just have to be regular ears. They can be animal-ears, too!)
    Face Accesories (Like glasses.)
Hair Accesories (Yes, guys can wear them, too...)
    Facial hair
Eye Color (Yeah, Eye Color no longer counts as face-type. )
Skin Color (It's now a bar going from light to dark. Not a selection from 1 to 4 like in PSO.)

Pretty much everything listed above can have different colors.

Cast Character Creation: (Cast = Android)

    Helmet-Type
Face-Type (Face-Type and Helmet-Type go together to decide Head-Type, unlike in PSO.)
Suit-Type (You can make a muscular android... hmm...)
Armor: Chest (Armor goes over the suit.)
    Armor: Arms
    Armor: Legs
    Armor: Foot (Omglolz f00t armorz...)
    Suit Color 1 (Key-Word: 1)
Suit Color 2 (Yes. You don't choose from a list of color combinations, but you decide the color combination yourself, unlike PSO.)

You probably agree with me that once online, no one is going to look like you. >_>

    Information
Let me tell you, the Lobbies (Or what seem to be the lobbies) look amazing. Judging from a video, lobbies range from futuristic towns to PSO like lobbies the size of a basket-ball court. Now in the lobby, you have a selection of movements to perform. (Similar to PSO, where you would hold Ctrl and press a button to do something.) Something out of the norm, however, is the ability to have your character's face pop up on everyones screen on the left side, showing some sort of emotion. Basically, they are avatars.

As many of you have heard, there are vehicles. Not just in cut-scenes, but in game-play as well. There are vehicles such as star-ships, for going from planet to planet (Only confirmed for offline mode), and Hover-Bikes, for going across the surface.

The battle-system, judging from video's, is very similar to that of PSO. But sort-of not. It's hard for my puny mind to explain, but it is certainly alot faster than that of PSO. Video's containing game-play footage are at the bottom of the post. According to IGN, there are two types of attacks. Strong and weak. These attacks can be chained together to make various character-specific combinations. There is also a first-person mode which you can use to blast everyone away, if you like. n_n According to IGN, weapons aren't the ones with move-sets now. It's Character and Weapon. Meaning if say a Hunter uses a sword, a ranger will use it differently.

The graphics are also greatly improved, but I will allow the pictures and video's to tell you the rest of that.

The classes Hunter, Ranger, and Force have made their returns, but there are also 4 races for each class. The 3 you remember, Humans, Newmans, and Casts (Android = Cast) and a new one. The beast, which according to IGN will make the most dramatic alteration to the ability system.

The offline mode of the game is supposed to be much more story-based than the other online PS games. It is expected to be from 40 to 50 hours long, and takes place in a brand spanking-new universe called the "Gurhal Solar-System", which consists of three planets. 100 years ago, there was a great war, but a peace treaty was made then, thus ending it. Now, 100 years later, Ethan is going to the festival with his little sister, and disaster strikes...

Also according to IGN, the game is supposed to have many references to other Phantasy star games. The story will be non-linear in nature, contains over 3 hours of voiced-over cut-scenes, and can be enjoyed even without the online mode, just as an offline RPG.

We still know not of many things in PSU. Such as the maximum amount of players playing at one time, a monthly fee, if both versions of the game are compatible with each other (It's coming out for the PC and the PS2), how many characters per account, etc. We will just have to wait and see.

    Pictures

Here are some pictures from various pages.

    Thou hath been pwnd.

He's gonna cut off his hand any second now.

This is one of those situations where you wish you had team-mates.

    Smile for the camera!

The transformers make an appearance in Sega's next Phantasy Star game.

Running to a near-by whatever that is.

He REALLY should have waited until he was surrounded to use that spell.

I don't care that when you smack it, it spews black blood. Look at your team-mate! He's obese!

You know, that thing actually looks sorta happy. Can't wait to see his reaction when the game comes out.

Wow. Kinda reminds you of PSO, doesn't it?

    Raise thy sword!

This is what we call ambushing a helpless monster.

Notice how none of them care for smiling.

    Video's

http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...=game&type=wmv - This is the trailer from E3 2005, which contains mostly offline footage, but some online as well. Including character creation.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...=game&type=wmv - This is a trailer from the Tokyo Game Show of 2005. It contains entirely offline mode content.

Hope to see you in the Phantasy Star Universe when this game comes out for the PC and PS2, everyone. I hope I can make a character that looks like my old PSO character, Glenn. o.o

So, what are your opinions on the game so far, everyone?

This is going to be the best game ever made. The single player of this game will be what probably connects PS1 and PS Gaiden.

    ...oh my god. *spazz* *twitch*

Well, I suppose I'd best start saving up for a PS2, controlers, and the whole monthly payment for being online. Not to mention the game itself.

    Yes, yes you should.

Or, if your PC is good enough, you could just get a Ps2 controller, a Ps2 to PC adapter, and the game itself. Much cheaper, but at the risk of going into a world of only PC gamers.

I'm just gonna play the single player game. I'll get playing it online after I get stuff for it.

Almost opposite for me. I am going to play it online first, but then once that weird thing in PSO happens that causes everyone you know to just get bored and go into the offline mode, I will follow, and go into the offline mode and get obsessed for a while. Then go back online, then do offline, online, offline, and it goes on until the next online PS game comes out. Or until I need to use the bath room.

I looks pretty interesting. So how does the online part work with the offline part? Can you go through the game with other people, or do it yourself. Or is the online thing a completely different section?

The offline game is supposed to be an Action RPG, lasting from 40 to 50 hours. We don't know much about the online part of the game, but it is supposed to take place right after the offline mode's story. So, judging by the current information, you cannot play the story mode with friends.

It'd be so much cooler if you could. ,_,

The offline game is your standard fair action RPG with a story, cutscenes, voice acting, the works. Since Sega's delayed this game so many times they better put some effor into the voice acting.

Sega has been slacking recently, and have only made a few, if any quality games over these years.
Hopefully, PSU will prove me wrong, I myself, arent a massive fan of PS, and probably wont get this game. Too many other games to get excited about. Hope this game turns out to be good, my mate will probably get it, so Ill probably end up playing it anyway.

I have played PS, the Gamecube version. It was my mate who likes those games. I got a pretty damn good Magic user, I think I built him to LvL 34 or sumin. We stopped playing it after Tekken 5 came out, then we just played that instead ;)
