It's February and that means it's time to exercise our civic duties and select new EoFF leaders! Once a year we get together, form political parties, make up silly rules, distribute pictures of candidates in compromising positions, and in the end we have a new set of leaders to replace the current staff. The last part is not true, however. Get used to being lied to, kids. Ain't politics grand?
Anyway, here's how it will work this year. Groups of members will form parties. These can be based on anything, pretty much. Past examples include the Pirate Party, the Newbie Party, and Unne Avatar Party, and some thing with a walrus. You can check out past election threads to get an idea of whatyou are in for. You should also dig around the archived awards in general. Who knows what you might find in there.
So you will be forming parties. Please do not make them suck, unless it is some sort of Octopus Party with suction tentacles. Parties will be made up of EoFF members. No banned members, please. If someone *ahem* gets banned in the middle of the elections, then it just sucks for the party they were in. Parties can have as many members as are willing to join. The only person who can't join a party (besides banned members and Baloki) is eestlinc, because he sucks and his parties are always really lame. Trust us on this.
Each party will have to send an official application to Election Booth (that's me) via PM with the following information in order to be named an official party. If you fail to do this, or if your application is really bad, you won't be on the official ballot. Here are the criteria:
-Party Name (no profanity or porn references)
-Party official slogan
-Party Mascot (please provide a link to an image of the mascot. it should be an image that can be posted at EoFF. no snow genitalia.)
-Party official banner (must meet signature requirements)
-Party leader (this is the member that leads the party)
-Full member list (each member can only be in one party)
-$50 gift certificate to amazon.com (optional but might help your chances)
-List of the three candidates from your party running for each position (not all members need to run for positions)
Here are the positions candidates can run for. Each party must put up three different members for each position. Choose good teams since these three members will have to work together on tasks assigned during the campaign:
General 1. This group includes Gen Chat and Eyes on Each Other. Hopefully your candidates aren't EoEO banned.
General 2. This group includes Lounge, Gen Gaming, Art Gallery, and Writer's Corner. Candidates will be asked to perform tasks somehow related to these forums.
Staff/Reference. This includes Site Staff, Help, Feedback, the Archives, and any other forums certain members can seebut not others. Would be wise to get site staff or forums staff to run for this position since they might be better equipped for some tasks, but who knows.
Final Fantasy: The First Generation. Includes ff1 - ff6. Also may cover obscure old school Star Trek trivia. People running for these should hopefully have played these games.
Final Fantasy: The Second Generation. Includes ff7 - ff12 and all those sequels and stuff. Graphics whores will fit in best here. Again, it will help if your three candidates are familiar with the games.
The World is Square...and Enix. All the rest in here. Tactics, Chrono, KH, etc. Einhänder, Rad Racer, Bushido Blade. The list goes on.
Since there are six positions, and three candidates per party per position, you can do the math on how many members you need at a minimum to run a full slate of candidates. Parties need to have at least three positions filled, but it is not necessary to run candidates for all six positions. It will help you win however, since we vote at the end. You have two weeks to get this together. All party applications must be PMed to Election Booth by Sunday Feb 19th. If everyone gets stuff in earlier, then I may move the deadline up. There is no limit to the number of parties, but 5-8 is probably best.
Discuss the Elections here, make threads to start parties, etc. Ask questions and I'll answer them. Let me know if I forgot anything. The voting method will be discussed later, as well as the mechanics of how you win.
Also, go Seahawks.
