Standard Metal(thrash) vs New Metal(nu-metal, hardcore, and all the new metal genres)

Vocals were better around the late 80s with the big 4. These crap modern bands arent even metal, just hard rock. If you want to get banned insulting and making crushing points at people is the way to go.

Lyrics were better in the older days of metal, nowadays a song cannot be aired if it has even a mention considered politically incorrect.

You don't even smurfing know what metal is if you are saying the bands I listen to or post about are "hard rock." Please. How are "crushing points" going to get me banned? They will get my point across if people will listen to them.

Lyrics don't mean <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"> if the band is good, and if the band is bad they don't matter anyways.

I dont really rate a band on vocals and lyrics, I think im more of looking for the instrumental side of bands.

Metal is a genre of music, what do you think? Your views belong to yourself don't shove it down people's throats because it gets you nowhere.

You should go listen to some Nile, Bloodbath or Behemoth and then explain how they are less powerful, less aggressive and less talented than your favourite thrash bands.

They're less powerful because I don't feel any kind of connection with the music, less aggressive because anger without direction is pointless, and less talented because I find the music inferior, therefore they are not particularly talented at making music I enjoy.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to jump into some sort of flame war, but if someone thinks Linkin Park is the greatest metal band ever to roam the Earth it's not like you've got anything to dispute that with but your own opinion. It galls me to hear Kurt Cobain called the greatest guitarist that ever lived, but if you go by the amount of people that enjoy his riffs over the technicality then he ranks pretty highly.
