Kingdoms Heart was pretty good for the most part, except for the few times when camera angle would suck or the camera would stuck on or behind something. It was probably my favorite battle system.

i liked Star Oceans battle system
Im not sure I have a favourite, but I like real time battles like Star Ocean over standing-around-in-a-line battle systems like most FFs
FFX, I liked seeing the turn order.

I liked FFX-2's battle system the best offline battle system. I don't think you can compare FFXI's to the offline battle systems. It's too different. On a second place, I'll put SO3.

I like FFVII's materia system for how incredibly broken it can get, but the best battle system is definitely that of Super Mario RPG. I'm not crazy about the party sharing MP (or FP), but the Timed Hits aspect makes every turn of every battle interesting. Whether you're attacking or being attacked, you don't just choose commands and then watch the result play out. You get involved.
Bahamut Lagoon. Solid tactical battle system combined with melee Final Fantasy style action. Awesomeness.
I liked the Junction System from FFVIII. I found it easy to understand and I dont know how people can say it was the most difficult. Also FFX2s was fun with the dresspheres, I didnt choose the short intro for them either, watched them change 100% everytime
