Thread: The Exorcism of Emily Rose

It depends on the severity in which they have seizures. Some people have seizures so bad that they can die from them. So yes if you are talking about mild seizures than the best thing to do is just let them get through it. But not if the seizure is severe.

Though I don't really believe that Anneliese was possessed I also don't really buy the epilepsy thing though either. I have a rather mild case of epilepsy and my medication keeps it pretty much under wraps. I will only have a mild seizure once in a very great while if my medication gets a little out of wack. But nonetheless I have become familiar with the way people act while having a seizure and I just don't see how people could misinterpret a seizure for a possesseion by a demon.

I think schizophrenia (sp) would be more like it. I am not sure if that was what some of them were referring to when they mentioned she had some sort of mental illness. But I never heard the word schizophrenia used by them so I don't know.

Well, it had its freakshow moments, like when she's sitting in class and all her classmates faces get all crazy lookin, and when she looks up into the clouds and Im guessin she see's what is supposed to be the devils face in them. It was an okay movie.

You're kidding me. xD They went there? Wow. Even the School of Rock wasn't safe, as the 40 Year Old Virgin has told us.

They used a different word that is basically "another term" for schizophrenia at some point, I think. I don't know it but someone told me they did.

I just watched it today. It is somewhat creepy. I didn't enjoy it as a story. The excorcism was interesting (or at least some parts). I think they do want us to believe she was possessed by demons. Especially since they were using different medical terms for each incident she suffered. The things that happened to the lawyer, also.

Never, ever had I been so tempted to walk out of the theater before the end of the movie than when I went and saw this one. My god it sucked.

And I hate how people completely missed the point of the film. It was "based on a true story" in the sense that the court case really took place, ect. They completely miss the fact that all the non-courtroom scenes were just according to what the defendant told them. But after people saw that movie I immediately heard them talking like it was proof of god, demons, and the virgin mary's immortality.

Also it's not very true if it took place in Germany yet the movie took place in the United States which means they changed the location of her home, her school AND the court. Fail fail and fail some more.
    I like Kung-Fu.

Just wondering was the original Exorcist movie based off of a true story and if so what event was it based off of.

The Exorcist novel and film is based loosely off events described by a priest who is said to have exercised a demon from a little boy in Maryland in 1949.

THAT MOVIE SCARED THE HELL OUTTA ME!!!!!
now first of all I'm a sucker for scary movies, and I do strongly believe in ghosts and demons and stuff like that, and so this raised some very freaky questions to me. That and the scene in the secondary school (while she was doing the test) scared the hell out of me, even though I had seen commercials and knew what was going to happen...

since watching that movie, i get really worried everytime i wake up at 3:00 in the morning...

Since when has a "Based on a True Story" ever been remotely accurate?
