Default Which enemies do you avoid during battle?

I avoid ahrimans, plagues, and squidlarkins because of Look of Fright, Death Sentence, and Odd Soundwave. I have no problem with every other enemy.

Blue and Red Dragons are tough until you get Math Skills and Orlandu. Of course some battles with them are unavoidable, especially Colliery Underground.

Hydras and Tiamats are manageable by the time I get to Deep Dungeon because I have the characters and skills to handle them. But encountering them during Chapters 2 or 3 would be horrific! I love 'em though (when they're on my side).

I dislike Squidlarkins for the same reasons you do. However, I poach Plagues for the Zorlin Shape.

The ones that have annoyed me more than ANY other monsters are:

Black chocobos early in game. First I remember encountering them in Barius Valley. They would start on other side of map, and this early in the game you dont usually have fast long range attackers to take em out, and that Choco ball would do alot of very-long-distance damage.

The red-robe wearing Squidlarken, Mindflare I think it was? They would use Mind Blast which would either confuse, berserk, or maybe both on someone. When your Ramza can 1-shot most people in your team, hes a dangerous man to be confused.

I've also had many bad experiences with blue/red dragons, total pain in the butt till you get some of the powerful characters in chapter4

The reason why I don't have any problems with mindflares or chocobo and dragon species is because of the way I prepare myself for battle and how I set up my strategy. Here's some tips when battling mindflares: equip Magic Rings instead of the N-Kai Amrlet. It's better to be confused than berserked, as berserk is hard to cure. Also, if your unit is within range of their Mindblast, have your next unit to move cast Esuna on the first one, if he or she has White Magic. The Mindflares won't use Mindblast, because the unit with White Magic will just get the first one out of the negative status.

i take every enemy right on.if the battle gets too hard, that's when the REAL TACTICS come into play.

I agree. But, that rarely ever happens to me anymore because I know how the AI works.

I also avoid enemy thieves if possible. Charm can be very inconvenient when I bring people with Math Skill equipped. Thank god you rarely fight an enemy Calculator. As for how I deal with these pesky attackers, I turn them into frogs or chickens at the start of a battle.

The only thing I avoid would probably be the mind flares cause of their brain discolor power it's anoying when Your best char like Ramza get berzerk and confuse...

only enemies that i go "ahh crap" for are Human Thieves and Knights cuz they steal or Break my Uber Items and Gear that cannot be replaced. and chocobos because they have immense move and attack range and some even have that damn choco cure. Especially the Yellow Chocobos early in the game. when you dont always have long ranged and a huge supply of potions or MP for healing.

although i still fight everything but those are my least favorite to see on the field.

I tend to eschew from waltzing into Mindflare and Vampires' ranges, but not because they're overly annoying, but because I'd rather get first strike and not give them a chance to do anything. Equipment allocation takes the shines off the skills, anyway.

the curing yellow chocobos in the start of the game, the squids in the robes, Celia and Lede, and anyone who steals or breaks my precious equipment (Meliadoul). but i love her when she joins the party and i love Celia and Lede when Ramza can kill them in one go.

and in any other game : MALBOROS!! O_O

...and Orlandu, if he was an enemy.
