There is a midi from FF1 (Chaos Temple) that is astounding. I'm also fond of To Zanarkand(ffx), You're Not Alone!(ff9), and Maybe I'm a Lion(ff8).

My favorite FF song of all time is the main theme from FFVII in piano version I LOVE IT SOOOOO MUCH!

The Black Mages anyone? They're a rock'n'roll band dedicated to the music of ff, on keyboard is Nobuo Uematsu himself...lol
i would say 'Don't be afraid-Orchestrated version' is awesome.

I really love the piano'd version of FF7's battle theme. I know it's used in AC but I think it originated somewhere else (the Black Mages, maybe).

As for in-game music, the airship theme from FF6 really stands out. Esthar from FF8 is a quirky bit of fun, too. But the Mako reactor theme from FF7 will always be my nostalgic favorite!
