Wierd thing happened during new game (pc)

I had already played through the game to about the third disc when I was showing my cousin the game. I started a new one for him and walked him through some of the beggining. When we got out to the world map, on our way to the fire cavern I noticed that we had a bunch of wierd rare items in the inventory. I do recall having, I think 60 of every time in the inventory. Now I thought it was some weird cheat that we had accidently stumbled upon and was pretty excited. I was there when he started the new game and he didn't activate anything or do anything out of the norm that I could see during the inital stages of setup.

Soon afterwards the cd's for the pc version of my FFVIII were destroyed...

I put this in the back of my mind until after I bought a new copy of FFVIII

I just wondered if I was alone in stumbling across this weird phenomena

I do now believe that it was some weird glitch, activated by some random and amazingly rare series of code....then again who knows.

Any feedback on this would be grateful...I lost the game with the weird inventory on it, but I'm still curious as hell as to what could have happened to trigger it.

Bad coding maybe. Same thing happened to me, I noticed I had a TON of Gil, and Odin was making an apperance on disc 1, when you really shouldn't be able to get him until after the Garden is mobile in disc 2.

I made it as far as Timber on disc 1, with all the Gil, Odin, etc and then the game crashed, or rather my computer crashed. I finally started over and saved a new game over the funky one. End of problem.

I don't play too many games on the computer. just things like The Sims, because they're always so glitchy and slow for me.

I dont play to many PC games. Im more of a playstation kinda girl. But sorry it crashed on you good luck on it!
