How would you rate Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia?

Keep in mind that a lot of people are gonna say CoP sucks, as seems to be the general concensus, when they haven't made it far enough into CoP to even begin to reap the benefits. While CoP was difficult it was not impossible. It just required more skill and less zerging which is a concept most players don't understand.

Pretty much everyone knows the general idea of what people think it takes to beat Promyvions. 2xWAR/NIN, 2xRNG, 2xSMN. People who think like this will never see sea. There are better setups for the BCs but what is most important is working together with your group and being prepared. For Promyvions that means Anima. If everyone has 3 anima in your PT you are almost guaranteed a win.

So please don't say CoP sucks just because it is difficult. The benefit is that in the end you will know that you earned sea and you won't run into many people in sea that aren't very good and knowledgable players.

Glad to see a lot of love for CoP here ^^ I did see faults with it in a few ways. There is a lot of frustrating running around in later missions and what makes me the most sad is that I cannot rewatch all of the CSs for the entire storyline from one place... I would have to retrace my steps to a billion places to do this. I've considered using fraps and making a compilation of small fraps movies with all of the events in order for my own personal pleasure of watching them later ^^

I've only done two Promys, and I'm loving it to death. I'm a plot whore, so I don't care much how difficult as it as long as there's a decent story (and other goodies) to be rewarded with.

Although I continue to die in the Aquaducts, I'm still loving exploring areas I've never seen before. And knowing in the end that I'll have sea access and a spam-free jeuno keeps me going. The only thing that slightly pisses me off is that it's so damn long...

I love CoP for the fact that you can start them at level 30. This allows alot of newer players to progress through the expansion, while also progressing through levels. Although, Im not sure Im a fan of any of the missions, CoP is still a great expansion. I was 0/11 on 2-5, finally won it lastnight so Im looking forward to doing the next set of missions in the series. My advice to everyone is, is to start CoP as soon as you can.

I hate all the level caps, I realize it allows for CoP progression that corresponds to level progression so that you don't just have a bunch of high levels doing all the work for the low levels, but still...i hate lvl caps. Also I think the difficulty is too high. Not that it's impossible or even really all that hard, BUT the difficulty tends to scare people off and causes them to be jobists(racist for/against certain jobs) For instance as nobody is willing to take a thief on these missions, so I was forced to level blm to 50 just to do 4-2(Ouryu). Not really SE's fault, it's just that gamers are too afraid to try something new, like 4-2 w/out a crew of blm's.
Nevertheless, despite some annoyances, it's altogether worth it, bc of the intense pleasure and feeling of accomplishment when finally getting past it all.

Help: What do I need to buy to play this on PS2? I thought you could just play it with a network adaptor!

You need a HDD as well, if you bought the PS2 version legitly, it should come with it.
