So...recently I downloaded Final Fantasy V and it's in japanese but it says if I download the patch it will change it to english, so how do I actually use the patch? Thanks in advance.

Place the translation file in the same Folder/Zip file as the ROM image, and make sure the patch is named exactly the same way as the ROM file is. Then run the game.
