Actually, most football fans aren't like that. If they were, football would probably end up banned. Most UK residents are football fans, and the majority of them don't act like that - you just only notice the downsides. All the people I work alongside support some football team and they're all respectable people. Most of the people I know in the UK are likewise. Just because a person doesn't have their team's emblem plastered over them doesn't make them a non-football fan. Football fans are pretty good on a whole, but there are those that let them down. I'm pretty sure a lot of bad people in all areas of the world are football fans, they just don't go around wearing the shirts as often.

You have a point, I'll give you that. If only you lived in Stockport. You really word understand the sheer horror of the situation. If I lived up in wee Scotland however, I'm sure I'd meet some great football fans. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure there are some nice people who are football fans over here. But as I firstly don't care about football really (whether I'll like it in the future is another matter), and considering that finding them is a rarity, I don't bother looking. Almost daily when I walk home I'm terrorised by little s wearing Stockport County or Manchester United t-shirts. With young people, I believe football can encourage hooliganism in general.

I think the Boro stand a good chance. We played well against Charlton the other week and we were unlucky to lose. And that was with 9 changes from the team that played Roma!

Andrew Davies is cup-tied which is a shame. And I hope he plays Morrison on the right rather than Mendieta.

Re: the Newcastle match. I don't know why Newcastle fans talk about replacing Shearer costing a lot of money. You could get a similarly statuesque lump from the lower divisions for less than £100,000.

Shaun: I'm from Teesside, which probably isn't too different from Stockport. I find football brings people together more than anything else. It's probably the only thing I have in common with most of the people in my local area.

    Oooh, I got booed.

I like 'Boro very much But I thought that since you guys were rocking the UEFA, we could let Charlton have the FA? McClaren has been making a ton of changes to his team, and who knows but it might be effective? Likewise, Curbishley's not making too many changes to his team despite Highbury. That could be good or bad. I know Marcus Bent is back in training, but he's definitely not playing 'Boro -- I don't think he'll play the Newcastle game either?

Shoefly, I don't know but it sounds to me as if you're just unlucky enough to live in a place full of unpleasant, chavs and chav-like people who also watch football. It's not very nice being a Gooner in Malaysia either They (the 99% Manchester United fandom) still haven't forgive arsenal for jostling their poor ickly Horseface in some tempestuous game a few years ago.

Great, this'll be the 10th time Liverpool have played Chelski in two seasons. Is this a record? Liverpool v Chelski is the new Man United v Arsenal in terms of rivalry, partly due to Messrs. Keane and Vieira's absences. And we've only beaten them once in 9 (3 were draws, 5 were defeats) although the one we won was the one that mattered most, and I wouldn't trade that for 5 domestic wins with a lot of stupid refereeing decisions.

I'm pretty sure that Chelsea have the "new rivalry" with pretty much every major team around right now, including Liverpool, Barcelona and Man Utd to name a few. If one had to be top of the lot, it would be Barcelona, despite the fact that they rarely play. Rivalries are only really good if either side has a good chance of winning, though. Otherwise they aren't really rivalries so much as angsty feelings. At least Liverpool is in top form right now. If they don't win the FA Cup and Chelsea do, I'm blaming Chelsea's victory as Liverpool's fault for knocking out Man Utd, the team who are most on level with Chelsea. But I've got a soft spot for Liverpool since they're my second team, given my brother-in-law supports them - he does the whole buy the shirt, get the magazines and so on. I'm not allowed to talk to him about any of the games until 48 hours after they're played because he doesn't get to see many straight away now that he's in NZ.

    Straight, everyone hates Chelski.

OH. The Liverpool - Everton game is brilliant. I'm a neutral party and even I'm enjoying it. Was Gerrard honestly given a yellow card for kicking the ball away?! o_O The first half had red cards, yellow cards, mini-boxing games and an own goal. Wonder what the second half'll have. I feel a bit sorry for Everton because they were playing better, imho, but that corner kick in was really a beauty. I guess the important thing now is for Everton to keep playing like they have been playing...which is easier said than done. Cahill is playing so wonderfully

Edit: The arsenal game is off.

    Edit 2: Back on!

    Edit 3: I GIVE UP.

Man Utd and Chelsea don't really have a rivalry because Mourinho and Ferguson love each other, just like Liverpool and Arsenal don't really have one. As for Barca and Chelski, yeah, there's a lot of hate there, too, but personally I think Liverpool v Chelski is more intense because of the amount of times they've played/are due to play.

And pssh, Liverpool deserved to beat Everton. Just for that, I'm going to cheer for Spurs in the North London derby next month!

I can't believe Steve Gerrard was sent off. I love him more than any other Liverpool player.

I hope Liverpool win the FA Cup, now that we are out of it. Unlike most other Newcastle fans I really like Liverpool. I don't think they are boring at all.

As for tomorrows match - Howay the lads! - Please don't lose against Charlton.

Liverpool are the only ones who can teach Chelsea a lesson, and if Liverpool pour their heart and soul into the match they can dive and give Chelski a taste of their own medicine.

24 minutes in we are 1-0 down to Charlton, due to a Penalty scored by Darren Bent.

EDIT: 1-1, I love Scott Parker.

EDIT 2: 2-1 to them, own goal by Lee Bowyer. Not happy.

If you guys got rid of the treble-B alliance of Bowyer, Boumsong and Bramble, and replaced them with players of the quality of most of your other players, you'd be very deadly indeed.

Didn't Lee Bowyer used to play for Charlton before Leeds got him? Hmmm, double agent.

I totally agree. We could get rid of Ramage along with those. I'm hoping Emre can do us proud and get us an equalizer in the second half.

4-3 against Bolton. A last minute Stuart Parnaby goal gave us the three points. Century Radio's "enthusiastic" commentator, Alistair Brownlee, just got a little excited: "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. It's Stuart Parnaby. And what's he doing in the opposition six yard box in the last 30 seconds?! BUT WHO CARES!"
