If Chelsea put either Lampard or Ballack on the bench then it's going to be too much, though. I think it would be a shame if such a thing were to happen, even if they're the same kind of player.

I think it would be Essien that would make way for Ballack, which is good, because Chelsea don't play as well as they usually do without him, for example, the Barcelona games.

EDIT: (seeing as none of y'all are willing to make an interjecting post)

    Liverpool 7
    Birmingham City 0.

Ouch. That is the joint-highest win I've ever had as a Liverpool fan, equalling the 7-0 against Rochdale in the same competition 10 years ago. What makes it even more extraordinary is that we played a game just two days ago, leaving little time to rest. Hyypia, Crouch (2), Morientes, Riise and Cisse all scoring (and an og from Tebily too).

That's 15 goals in 3 games (average: 5 a match) And people say we're boring and can't score!

I'm oddly amused by how well "Birmingham" almost rhymes with "Nil Seven" and "Liverpool" almost rhymes with "Seven Nil". I see the away fans took advantage of the latter.

EDIT: Should be interesting to see how Birmy's next two games go. What's the record for most goals conceded in three consecutive games?

Just shouting out that my team will be promoted to the Premiership on Saturday if we win!

    I'm so happy.

Man United, Liverpool, then Chelsea. Not really an enviable group of fixture for the magpies.

And 1-0 down already. (I love having my TV next to my computer!)

And it remained 1-0. To be honest, I think we deserved a goal - Shame that Shearer aint what he used to be.

The match was very entertaining, and also very dirty (as all Newcastle matches are!) but I am gutted that we lost. Elliott definately did not deserve a red card though.

Charlton next game, still a challenge with Darren Bent on hand but other than that a good match considering who we've been playing against for the last three matches. After Charlton they are all pretty much (mainly!) easy games until we reach the final game of the season where we play Chelski again. This time round, at home. :grinpink:

That's the thing Chelsea had a home advantage and only 1-0 defeat and 10 men, that's very good, if it was at St James's I reckon it could of been 2-1 maybes, I knew we were going to lose but I knew it was meant to be entertaining but this was a good match.

Damm, that match was far too boring. As soon as Terry scored we just took our foot off the gas pedal completely. So dull, I ended up switching over to the Apprentice at 9.

I hope Charlton beat Middlesbrough tonight; if the past [Premiership] score is anything to go by, they will do. But then again...3 -- 0 last Saturday. If Charlton do win, then probably it'll be a really good game versus Newcastle too.

Oh my gawd it's Juventus on Tuesday

Pfft, football. Why is such a casual interest...interesting in any way? It's just a bunch of people kicking a ball around.

    (p.s. Don't flame me! )

    Oh Shoefly. :rolleyes2

Haven't you ever felt the passion when you're one - nil down and there's seven minutes to go, and your team is in the opposition's half and attacking? Haven't you ever felt like retching when someone equalises when they shouldn't? It does funny things to your blood pressure.

Luckily for the regular posters of this thread, it isn't a thread for the discussion on whether or not you like football.

I hope Charlton win tonight, too. Marcus Bent won't be playing so that will leave all of the work down to Darren Bent. I'm not too bothered though, as now Newcastle are out I want Liverpool to win the FA Cup.

As for the Charlton v Newcastle game this weekend, Charlton have the advantage of playing at home. We'll still be missing Boumsong (Thank god!) and Elliott due to his unfair send off last night. I'm hoping that upon his return from his visit home, Luque will be put on the pitch for the full 90 minutes and will finally do us proud with a goal. I also have hope for Emre to be playing. I think we may just snatch the win, but it could possibly go the other way with Darren Bent's luck. :grinpink:

    Tsk, silly Poojie.

I just don't like the entire feel for football. You live in a nice area, where you can happily discuss things...like football. I, on the other hand, live in a crap working-class environment, where the average football fan is likely to call you a "smurfing dickhead". Or they'd call you gay. The irony in that is, that they're watching sweaty men run around a pitch, jumping on each other whenever they score a goal.

That, is why I hate football. Yes, others ruin the experience. Maybe if I live somewhere like where you live, Pooj, I'd enjoy football.
