    Default Sims 2 vs. Court

So now it's pretty much official. Another game trial will be held against The Sims 2. The lawyer that'll be going against it was even quoted as saying it's worse than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The real reason he wants to ban this game is, because he says that the sexual content in it was too strong. That's what I don't get. The Sims aren't anatomically correct and when they "Woohoo" (have sex) you don't see a thing. I haven't played San Andreas, but I've heard that it's more graphic than The Sims. I know Vice City is 10x worse. So what do you think? Has the need to ban video-game violence and sexual content gone too far?

I love how sex is considered worse than a man stealing cars and beating innocent people to death with a dildo. How wonderful.

Sims 2 is one of the best selling PC games ever made. Of course if anybody wants to find a reason to sue a company with billions of dollars they'll do it.

well its just the same with gta san andreas, u can decide to do all these things or not. And everything is censored so i dont see a problem.

GTA, however, centers around crime and violence as plot points. You cant beat the game without stealing and killing and such. I'm not saying that it should be banned for any reason or anything like that, but it's definitly not for kids and violence/crime is the entire focus on the game.

Sims, however, is indeed optional. You dont have to have your characters 'Make Woohoo', and when they do it's just a lot of movement under the blankets. Nothing graphic.

Yeah, but my mom up til we were in 8th or so grade thought that was too much. And I still think she would have a fit if she caught my sisters playing a game that had such stuff in it.

So yeah.... people are too sensitive. I sorta understand my mom throwing a fit(she can't even turn my computer on or off(the power button isn't 'where it is supposed to be')... so how is she supposed to remove 'bad games'. And dad doesn't care if that is all the more it is. So throwing a fit is kinda understandable. She can't stop us unless we aggree and remove it ourselves. And most of us in the family don't hold the values that movement under the blanket is bad.

STILL Updating the anime list. . . I didn't think I was that much of an anime freak! I don't even want to consider updating the manga list!

Wait.. Are we referring to Jack Thompson? Because he's been making that accusation for about a year now. And I'm pretty sure he'll just be laughed out of court again.

Yes! That's his name. I was trying to remember it. Hopefully this will all just blow over like most video-game trials do.

That's why it has a "T" rating. It's not for children. I don't even care that the "sex" is entirely unseen; it's better than in Sims 1 where you'd be making out and a baby'd magically appear.

But, yeah, this has been going on for awhile now. Nothing'll come of it because Jack Thompson is making retarded acusations like it's child pornography because if you know the code you can remove the censor and remove the children's doll-like bodies.

He should just sue every doll maker there is. YOU CAN TAKE OFF THEIR CLOTHES AND TOUCH THEIR GENITAL-LESS CROTCH AREAS. CHILD PORN CHILD PORN!

OMFG! I guess nobody told him that there is also a way to hack into the the computer to make the lil simmies have pee pee's and what not. But then he'd actual have a case. Still, even then it wouldn't be as bad as running over someone with a car and beating up hookers.

You cant blame the company for the hacks of the people, so he wouldnt have a case even then.

Yeah, that'd be like suing them because some people make the Sim's clothes too sexy, or Animal Crossing because I could draw a penis on my character's hat if I wanted.

Hey! I remember this! There's something on wikipedia about it. It's kinda stupid though. Jack Thompson claimed that under the censor is full frontal nudity (Nipples, pubic hair, etc.). He went on to say that it's not directly accesible, but using a simple cheat code would reveal it. This would mean they hid something from the ESRB. He also said that "Pedophiles could access these things and then re-enact what they see." What? Pedophiles? :rolleyes2 Of course, to my... I mean, a lot of teenage boys who aren't me dismay, there was no nudity under the censor. Many people stated that it was just as good as a Barbie Doll. Jack Thompson (The dumb lawyer) said "I was always aware of this." He went on to say that children, oh no, people of ALL ages should not be allowed to see this kind of content. "Even if they (The nudity parts) are just as good as Barbie and Ken dolls."

For those of you who don't know what Jack Thompson looks like, here's a picture.

Fact of the day: Jack Thompson doesn't have a good hair-cut.

For those of you who want to know what he does, here's a link to a basic explanation of what he does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson#Activism

For those of you who want to know exactly what he does, here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson

o_O This Jack Thompson guy is kinda weird, as you can see. He constantly points out that games like GTA aren't for kids, and that it should be made less possible for kids to get these games. I agree with him there, but really, isn't it the parent's job to do that? The parent is there to guide the child into a good life. If a parent thinks something is bad for their children, they shouldn't allow them to get it. It's the parent's job to raise the child, not the creators of GTA. Plus, there is a mark on the back of every box that tells you the recommended age group. I say no-no to Jack.

I wonder if this guy has ever actually played the game, because most of what he thinks is in it isn't.

There was something somewhere on a Sims 2 site where someone posted pictures of the "WooHoo" in the Sims 2 (animated as moving bed covers with the occassional arm or leg sticking out the side), and then pictures of Barbie and Ken in some very creative sexual positions. I lol'd. xD
