Default Weird center path in Besaid

So...my friend was wondering, and I am too, what's with this path in Besaid, every time you try to go into it, you automatically turn around? I hope everyone knows what I mean. It's been awhile since I started the game, and I don't know if you were in that area or not.

That was the path used by Tidus and Wakka when they first swam from the area by the beach. You don't need to go back down there.

I might have misunderstood something, but you can still go to the cliff where Wakka pushes Tidus out in the water. I know the path in question, and have been wondering about the same thing myself. Even in X-2, you can't go down there.

So if this is not that cliff... can someone explain again where it leads?

After Wakka throws Tidus from the cliff he takes him to a flooded cave where he asks for help with the Aurochs. Then they go up a path talking about the last blitz chapionship. That's the path that is blocked.

It probably leads to the beach behind the Besaid Temple

By the time in the game you can actually go back (besides before getting off of Besaid), you already have all 7 characters. Along the water path that Wakka and Tidus took, there were no areas where Tidus could go onto to change parties, so you would be stuck with Wakka, Tidus, and Rikku only. The items down there can only be gotten once, as is the case with many of the areas in FFX (SPOILER) (*cough* Bevelle *cough*), unlike the water in Mt. Gagazet, which were more or less, optional.

In FFX-2, there are no swimming areas, where you control Yuna in the water (even in Blitzball, you don't actually control her), so it would be necessary that the makers block out that area.

It probably leads to behind the Temple, as Renmiri said.

Memory was a big problem when square was making the game... they probably just blocked it so that it didn't take up more memory... maybe... ?

No, it wouldn't be memory because the scenery is already there. Rendering it again with the different characters wouldn't be any problem.

It's just because there is no reason to go back there, and probably because square didn't code a way from the path to the water.
