Yea ive seen this before. What i dont get is if this FF isnt going to have a really big love story, then why have a song so lovie dubie?

Yeah its very confusing. No one knows if its Vaan and Ashe, Vaan and Penelo, or other things like Ashe and Basch, or nothing. Since Rassler was Ashes wife and she looked like she loved him I doubt Ashe and Vaan will happen. The story as they said before might have little to do with love. But then why the song?
I believe the creators want it this way.
They're using the suprise element, they don't want to make it obvious like all the others in the series.
I do remember an interview with the director that he said that there would be a love story, but that it would not be the main story of the game. Like for example , in FFVIII.
I can sorta see a possible FFVII happening again, with Vaan and Ashe and Penelo. But since Vaan is already going out with Penelo it complicates things. I dont think they would choose a song called kiss me goodbye if love wasnt that big of a part of the story. It has to mean something.

"Kiss Me Goodbye" does not necessarily imply love. For FF12, the protagonists have lost lots of things in which they have held dear to their heart because of this war among the kingdoms.
Vaan and Penelo lost their families
Ashe losts her husband
Bache losts his glory and position as a knight
(Really, the only ones who don't appear to have lost anything because of this war are Balflear and Fran... they are pirates, what have they got to lose? Well, we'll have to buy the game to find out)
For me, "Kiss Me Goodbye" means saying farewell to the happiness these characters have had that shall never return, but they must find new happiness amidst the chaos even after much suffering because if they back down, then it really is "Kiss Me Goodbye" for good.
PS: In the PV, Ashe takes out her ring and gives it away. It could mean she's letting go of her past, trying to forget Rassler, kissing "HIM" goodbye in order to find the happiness she feels she still deserves.
Great post. I never really thought of it that way. Thanks.

Hey there, I'm new here, nice to meet ya. Just wanted to say i think that FFXII is really starting to sound quite cool but "Kiss me Goodbye" reminded me too much of "Eyes on Me" imo.. i'm really hoping they'll keep the Prelude music, one of the most beautiful pieces ever composed! I'm hoping the music will be one of the highlights of the game.
According to RPGFan, the soundtrack will be released on April 19th, featuring over 100 songs by Hitoshi Sakimoto.Originally Posted by Dreddz
I really like the song "Kiss me goodbye" even though the pronouncing in the English version is a bit awkward. Surely better than Koda Kumi's English pronouncing (in her versions of FFX-2's English vocal tracks), though Utada Hikaru is more fluent in English than Angela Aki, IMHO. "Kiss me goodbye" is a very sweet though heartbreaking song which (Possible spoiler)works extremely well in its context. IIRC, this is the only song Nobuo Uematsu composed for FFXII, even though Sakimoto does use some of Uematsu's past themes in the game.
