Yeah, Hexen was one of the Doom spin-offs in the 90's, kind of like Heretic. I don't remember if it was Hexen, but in one of the Doom rip-offs if you typed in the Doom God code "IDDQD," you were punished by all of your weapons being taken away and a reduction in health.

Fun games, nevertheless, but eventually completely forgotten with the next-generation shooters like Unreal, Quake, Half-Life, Halo, etc...

I played Hexen and I do believe Heretic was Hexen II.

Hexen was a long game. I would usually play it a little and get bored due to the length of the levels.

You're were on the right track. I checked it out on WikiPedia, and it says Heretic was the original game, and Hexen was the sequel. The official name of Hexen was "Hexen: Beyond Heretic." There was also a Hexen II, making the entire sequence a trilogy.

Weren't they even made by Id? Pretty sure at least one of them was. So they weren't really a rip-off. Just... cousins. I played one. I enjoyed it. Like mideival-Doom

Even though I got tired of the long levels, I did enjoy Hexen

The Doom engine was licensed to Raven to make Heretic and Hexen. It was not developed by Id, though.

I was sure this topic was about Hexic for quite a few seconds, and was pretty confused how it had anything to do with id. But no, I've never played Hexen.

    Hexen's a mideival doom xD

As for what I was talking about... They're on Id's site >_>

    http://www.idsoftware.com/games/hexen/hexen
    http://www.idsoftware.com/games/hexen/hexen2
    http://www.idsoftware.com/games/hexen/heretic

So Id deffinitely had something to do with them. More than just lisencing. In order for them to take this kind of credit they'd have had to publish them too. Maybe not develop necissarily. But yeah.

Edit: Okay yeah, Ravensoft's webpage says Id was the publisher. Mystery solved.

    Good games ^_^
