    Default VALVE

Man, I got a really good gaming machine and proceeded to install my games on it. Then I realized you can only install Half Life 2 on only one comp, even though it's my copy and my comp. I was not a happy camper . I realize that gaming companies must protect themselves from piracy but I still feel like i got ripped off.

    what

You should be able to install it on as many machines as you want via your Steam account, as long as no other computer is signed on to your steam account at the same time.

You can even backup the game data off the old machine and copy it to the new machine. As Hsu said, the games you bought are tied to your Steam account and not a particular computer.
