It's much easier to level up in FFVI than it is in FFX-2. FFVIII makes it pretty easy as well.
But levels aren't important at all in FF8. Beating the final boss is a breeze even at level 10. Levels aren't all that important in FFX-2 either. It depends heavily on the abilities you have at hand too. Vegnagun wasn't a problem at level 25.
