Broken Sword Installation help plz!

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the General Gaming Discussion or Help Forum because it's both really.

So I bought Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars today and when I went to install it on my XP it didn't work, any ideas why? I know it's probably because BS is a old game and probably can't work on an XP but there is a way to getting it working, how? Thanks in advance people.

Right-click the game's icon, and select "properties" from the dropdown menu.
In the window that pops up, there is a "compatibility" tab you can click with a lot of options to allow XP to emulate earlier operating systems. Try altering some of the settings there and see if the game will run.

Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

Does it need DOS (try DOSBox) or 256 color setting (which you can also adjust in propterties, just under compatibility I believe)?
