I don't see why we'd need the spoilers but this is my take.

(SPOILER)Remember when Tidus jumped off the thing, all that nonsense, if you watch past the credits after Suteki Da Ne playing and what not, it shows him in a fetal type position in water, Square-enix has most likely done that, so when they made FFX-2, they could bring him back. It's the only thing that showed that there's the possibility of him being alive.

But if you don't get the perfect ending does that mean they drowned him?

I don't mean to contribute to all the confusion about where Tidus woke up, which we all know.. was Besaid. But, when he first arrived in Spira, the first place he woke up was Baaj Temple. xD But its reasonable why he came back at Besaid, cause thats where his adventure starts with Yuna and co. ( .__.)b

I'm sure -some- of them had drowned because when you play blitzball it gives you the HP dealy. I guess Tidus just had the largest ammount of HP known to man, lasting for... what.. 2 years? I just realized...
Him coming back makes almost no logical sense. =[
