"The books have fans of all ages, however. In the United Kingdom, two editions of Harry Potter books have been released, identical in text, but with cover artwork aimed at children in one edition and adults in the other"

That's from wikipedia. I assume the size changes are due to fonts and other issues.

My Dad has the adult editions (yeah, he even has one of those new-fangled DVD things, that's just how cutting-edge he is!), and there really is no difference in the content of the books. So as people are saying, yeah, it's probably due to fonts/centering.

There are differences in the American and UK versions though, from what I've heard. Like the Weasley jumpers becoming sweaters.

They still say jumpers, but I think they occasionally say sweaters as well, just so we arent like "Guh? Jumper?"

There are changes though, of course the most notable being Philospher's Stone to Sorcerer's Stone.

Regardless of what it was for, it was change and thats my point. I dont see how Sorcerer would appease them, I always thought the change was just because most Americans are too retarded to know what a Philsopher's Stone is.

Unless you mean if they only changed on instance, but they changed it all in both the book and movie. If thats what you mean.

    Hawt.

The Philosopher's Stone was changed not because AMERICANS are stupid, but because AMERICAN CHILDREN are stupid, if that's the logic. I don't know what those crazy Brits think, but here in America, the words "philosophy" and "children" don't go together.

The Philospher's Stone isnt about philosphy.

The philosopher's stone, in Latin lapis philosophorum, is a mythical substance that supposedly could turn inexpensive metals into gold and/or create an elixir that would make humans younger, thus delaying death. It was a longtime "holy grail" of Western alchemy. In the mystic view of alchemy, making the philosopher's stone would bring enlightenment upon the maker and conclude the Great Work. It is also known by several other names, such as materia prima.
Again, the reason why they changed it has to be that Americans are ignorant about what a philospher's stone is.

I saw somewhere that they changed the word 'Philosophers' to 'Sorcerers' because Philosophers doesn't sound magical enough.

There's a whole seven chapters involving Hagrid's hidden brothel, some muggles, Voldemort, "wand-play" and other things unspeakable of here in the adult version.
There is no signature here. Move along.
