**Ideas for Playing Through Again**
Here's my latest crazy idea for this game, see if you guys might want to try it:
You can make Ramza anything you want. But before you get to Sweegy Woods for the first time, you must have 13 party members (including Ramza.) So that's 4 groups of 3 generics, plus Ramza. The last group of 3 characters (which you must begin using by the beginning of Chapter 2 (Rad, Alicia, Lavian)) must be either monsters, or special characters not recruited at a soldier office. You can use generics, but you have to get them by inviting them. Nobody from the 5th group can be bought at the soldier office.
You must rotate them in, first send squad 1 to battle, squad 2 for the next battle, then squad 3, squad 4, squad 5, then back to squad 1. If you have less than 5 squads, you still rotate back to the first one after the last one goes in. (This would be because you are still raising the money to buy the other squads, and this must be done before Sweegy Woods.)
You can only put Ramza in at red dot battles, never random battles.
And now, the random job changing:
Before each battle, you must save the game. On the save screen, this will generate a random number from 0-59, which is the second counter on the timer of your save file. This number determines who to change to which job. This doesn't apply to squad 5, which you are allowed to build however you want, but right before you are about to deploy any of the first 4 squads (of generics bought in the soldier office before Sweegy Woods), here is how the number changes their job.
0-19 refers to the first character of the three, 20-39 is the second, 40-59 is the third.
Now subtract 20 from that number however many times you need to, so it is a number between 0-19. Say you get the number 28, that refers to the second character, subtract 20, so you get 8. Now change that character to the job which is 8 jobs away from his current job. So on the job change screen, if your guy is a knight, move it onto a knight, and tap right to go to the next job that he is a ble to switch to, and count 1. Then the next job he can switch to is 2, next one is 3, then 4....stop when you get to 8, and that will be his new job. So if there are 5 jobs he can switch to and you get the 8, its the same as getting a 3. (Basic math here people.) Now if you get a 0, 20, or a 40, then that means you can switch that character to whatever job you want, but you must change their job. You can never refuse a switch, this is what makes the game challenging, beating it with randomly assigned jobs. For squad 5 though you can do whatever you want with them.
And lastly, their abilities:
You can only use secondary and support abilities of either the job the character currently is, or the job they were PREVIOUSLY. So if you just randomly changed your chemist to an archer, their secondary ability would be item, and their support abilities must be only from the archer or chemist class. The only time characters would not have a secondary ability is when you first buy them from the soldier office (you choose to make them either a chemist or squire), or if you just changed them from or to a mime. In this case the character has no secondary ability, and only uses support abilities from his current job.
Let the madness begin!
Any questions or comments on this idea, or if any of you have any ideas for starting a new game, I'd like to hear them. Post replies in this here thread.
Also, what is your fastest time for beating this game? That would be the time displayed over your save file at Murond Death City just before the final boss, just after beating Hashmalum. I will post my time up here, as soon as I finish the playthrough I'm currently doing.
