Role Playing
Can we please get it out of the Writers corner? Perhaps we could have a forum specifically for RP'ing? It just clutters up the forum. It's not like it's artistic writing that is, you know, actually worth reading. I've always felt that it didn't belong there.
I just clicked on the writers corner a few minutes ago and I saw 11 RP threads in a row. It's getting ridiculously excessive.
Why not just ban it entirely

Being an avid roleplayer, I see no reason why we should restrict roleplays. I have been pushing for the ability to moderate roleplays more strictly, but at the moment they've been relegated to the Writing Corner and receive very little guidance or direction.
I feel we have no reason to ban roleplays. The common excuse is that tGA is what takes care of our roleplays, but having gone to tGA I've found that I don't really like the style of roleplay they do there which is more a bunch of people telling a story than an actual playing of a role, so to speak. That coupled with the sporadic forum death and rebirth and the difficulty to become part of the major storyline when it's been going on for so long and has already been established makes me feel that EoFF should at least be friendly to those who want to roleplay.
I am and will always be willing to moderate roleplay threads as necessary. It think there's a reasonable demand for them and I feel that they're a legitimate thread to have. However, until we choose to address the issue with any depth, that's how it will likely remain.
I'm not necessarily suggesting that we ban roleplay. I just think we shouldn't have that many roleplay threads in the Writers corner all at one time. I think it takes attention away from the actual writing in there. I just think RP's need to go somewhere else.
Role playing threads in Writer's Corner = Signature threads in Artist's Forum?
It's ok when there's one or two threads devoted to these things but when there's one after another... eh. It just makes me want to stop visiting the forum altogether.
I would fully support a roleplay forum, but the idea's been broached several times and always been discarded. I may bring it up again in staff if enough people seem to feel this is a problem.
I agree with the idea of moving RP threads away from the Writer's Corner. Their presence unhappy-fies me. In addition, a role playing forum doesn't sound like such a bad idea.
And with the amount of RP threads currently in the Writers Corner I think that an RP forum would be a pretty happenin' place.
I noticed that there is a lot of RP threads appearing here, though in my opinion none of them are to my liking. I think staff should consider making an RP forum, maybe not as a fullfledge forum but possible a sub-forum in Artist's Corner? I mean there is a difference between RPing and creative writing, at least for the most part. I have read some of the RPs here, well skimmed, and most of them tend not to come close to anything I would consider as creative writing. In other fora I frequent (One focused on a singular plot and another a regular RP forum) I have come across RPs that are very well written, or posts, that just are phenomenal. I agree with Void why tGA would not suffice EoFFer's RP needs, for it is hard to join a RP that has been establish, let alone keep up with it. Not to mention the fact that they are heavily dependant on active posters, for it can be infuriating when waiting days for someone to post, for your character can do nothing or little until then.
Don't stick them in the Artist's forum.
I agree, they do need to be moved. I stopped visiting the Writers section because it's just cluttered with RPs. I want to read the poems and such and not have to sift through th RPs to do so.
