Very good points, Spiff. Furthermore, I think the new tax revenue could be spent on better educating people about the ill effects of drug and alcohol abuse (I said "abuse", not "use in moderation") and maintaining free clinics for people who need to clean up.
About the driving thing, which understandably worries some people since there is no easy breath test like there is for alcohol level, I think that by the time it is actually legalized or decriminalized (to borrow a term from Jimmy Carter), we won't drive our cars. They'll drive themselves. Don't laugh, driverless cars are already a reality. They just haven't worked out the infrastructure logistics yet.![]()
