There's a lot more to a good trick than to just being obnoxious. I had some good ideas too, mind you, but a lot of them involved using others without their knowledge. Very unfair stuff and a bit too much on the line, in the end.

I use people all the time. Like my children. They sew my clothes. I don't see anything wrong with it. I own them. I can't exploit something I own.

Well hundreds of sites have managed to come up with some stuff that didn't just involve an oldbie spamming up the forums.

I particularly likes KillingIfrit's FFXI related joke although I was only fooled for a split second.

You are quite right. Real tricks involve emotion. Real tricks bring people to the edge, right up there, and when they're about to fall off, you pull them back and say 'APRIL FOOLS!' And then they hate you for a long time. Wait why do we do this again?

Next year I promise layers upon layers of pranks. Just when you thought you got it, the real trick will manifest itself, and you'll be lost all over again. And it will start in mid-February. Mark your calendars, kids.

This year wasn't meant to be anything special in particular. It was just to have a bit of extra fun on the day obviously set aside for such things. If it makes anyone feel any better, don't even consider anything that has happened today as related to April Fools. Just think of it as a "random day in which staff members do crazy things" day.

But adding this smiley is absolutely unacceptable, and I call for Samuraid's immediate resignation from staff. Disgusting.

As much as I didn't think that this was anything more than what Murd said - ie, just a few staffers messing around for the hell of it - it seems there was an unintentional fooling going on as a result of a past AF's... nobody believed it was Linus. Anyone who honestly did not believe it was Linus, you are the April Fool.
