    Default External CD burners

Are these possible? I mean having a CD burner that can connect through the USB port?

Yeah, I have one sitting on my desk, actually. I'd imagine they're a good bit better these days than this one, but I got it back before USB2.0 was common.

Are they good on budgets or are they expensive as hell?

Mine's an external DVD±R DL/±RW burner, supports both USB2 and Firewire interfaces (I use the firewire port myself) They're more expensive than their internal counterparts, but good if you either want to share it between multiple computers, or it's for a laptop like in my case

What you are looking for is an 'ide to usb' enclosure. Specify you want it for a dvd-rw drive or something when you ask for it.

Fundamentally speaking certain ide to usb devices for hard disk drives could work for cdrom drives too.
