    *yawn* Hero or not?

Hello! I have an art history assignment to do and I'm not quite sure about this. =O
Was Achilles a hero? I know he's considered a hero but was he really?
He never fought for anyone he loved he only fought for his own glory and with his anger.
So, do you think Achilles was a hero or not? And why!
    Help me here!
    Thnx! =D

To the Greeks he was a hero, becaue he embodied some part of their culture they thought was important. In this case: prowess in battle.

That's really the old definition of a hero, as the "hero" of a story was basically just a personification of a desired trait of a certain nation.

I agree. Your best bet is wikipedia.org, or some mythology website such as pantheon.org.
