Yeah, don't worry with the all that much. He's probably too strong for you. If you do have a save before Yuffie stole the materias, you could always load and do it later on. She only steals a certain number of materias, so if you got a lot of them, you'll still have some left. If you don't have a save game before that, then do what Lenna said.
