Though I suppose I should clarify that I see them to be in different categories of "candy", but nonetheless, if I tell somebody "I'm going to go grab a candy bar" it translates rougly to "I'm going to go find something at the checkout stand."

I always considered it candy, I don't know why. But I guess now that I think about it, chocolate and candy fall under the category of sweets. I just use the word candy when meaning sweets.

Actually Chocolate is only sweet with the sugar you put in it, have you ever eaten raw chocolate? bitter bitter.
