I first played Fallout 2 about four years after release, and Fallout 8 years after its release. I played Alpha Centauri about five years after release - at a time when we had games like Civ III around, and I still think it's the best turn-based 4X game there is. I've only started playing Daggerfall recently, and that's what, 10 years after release Sorry, but whilst your argument may hold water for a portion of gamers, you're talking to someone who gives games a chance based on their gameplay before graphics.

Besides which, I played OOT when it was brand spanking new and I wasn't terribly impressed with the gameplay at that time, either
