It depends on the guy. You have to have the right face for it. I like some facial hair more than I like a full-on beard, though. But clean shaven is good too!

But he was a brutal dictator, so that kind of deposits him in the same category as Stalin, though on a different scale of nasty.

I don't much like mustaches that aren't accompanied by beards. Lenin, with his mustache/goatee combo, looked intellectual and respectable. Stalin's mustache was an impressive piece of grooming, but he didn't look that distinguished. Hussein actually looks more authoritative now than he did when he was in power, thanks to his decision to keep some of that beard he grew during his concealment in that hole.

NB: I don't actually like or approve of any of the atrocities committed by the regimes of the dictators mentioned above, and I'm not trying to belittle or downplay the significance of what they did. Just commenting on their facial hair, nothing more.

Who was the last US president to have a decent crop of face fungus? Lincoln's beard is legendary, but I can't think if any others. Surely there must've been more...
