Yes, the gloriously vibrant cut scenes are present for most of the GF's you summon and they cannot be skipped. But you by no means HAVE to use GF's. In fact, one can probably get through the entire game without summoning any GF's at all- they simply add to the overall enjoyment and interactivity of the game.

Not to mention the fact that they're needed to you know...raise your stats.

The GF's main function in the game is for junctioning, so that's what you should focus on. It doesn't hurt to use GF's once in awhile, but choose when to wisely. Most likely, you won't need em. Just junction like it's your job, and you'll be invincible?

Shiva: Squall! USE ME! You haven't used me in forever!
Squall: B****, get back in the junction system and power me up!
Shiva: WE NEVER BOND LIKE WE USED TO!
Squall: I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE!
    Shive: T_T

    Thank you Hysterian!

If you're on disc 2 you should have Brothers, Siren, and Carbuncle by now. I don't overuse my GFs because if I do my Seed level will go down. You really shouldn't overuse GFs so much and when you fight Edea again make sure to draw Alexander from her because it can be easy to forget since this is a major boss battle and you're really focusing on the fighting.

If you don't want to lose Odin, or have a higher chance to make him appear, look here.

To not lose Odin: If you don't want to lose Odin, then do NOT go to the island from where you encounter him. If you do, at the point when you fight Seifer, he will use a skill which goes along these lines: Zantetsuken reverse. This will kill Odin (despite the fact that he's so powerful, he doesn't really need to die). Gilgamesh is horrible. He has 4 weapons (which everybody knows) which includes the Excalibur and the Excalipoor (a fake which does a measley 1 damage to all your opponents).

To have a higher chance to make him appear: Turn on the Analog option on your controller (unless you don't have it) and make one stick go up, the other go down. Keep switching, but this must be done when a monster is encountered.

    Hope that helps.
