Default Great List of Text Emoticons

Hello forum people. In 2005, I made a large list of Text Emoticons. I asked fellow Forumers to add on to it, so we could make a huge list of Text Emoticons. Now, I was hoping we could continue adding on to it. Just post Text Emoticons I didn't put into the list that you know of, and I will add them to the list. (Remember to check-mark the "Disable smilies in text" box when posting.)

    Remember, no porn.

By the way, in the Underscore ( _ ) section, emoticons with two different symbols (Such as >_o) are always able to be reversed. Also, it is the un-spoken rule to reverse the emoticon's symbols since the last time someone used it. For example: If I used the look left emoticon, the next time someone used a look emoticon, they would use right. Or if I were to use the Ouch emoticon (>_o), the next time someone uses it, it would be in reverse (o_<).

    Section one: The _'s.
You can also change the mouth if you like, but the emoticons will almost always mean the same thing. Removing the mouth is something alot of people do with _ emoticons. That makes it so that only the eyes are left. With lots of emoticons, the emoticons keep the same meaning, but end up a tad "cuter".

    d_M (del_Murder)

    -_- (Tired)

    e_e (Tired 2)

    z_z (Sleeping)

    u_u (Dissapointed/Sad)

    v_v (Dissapointed 2/Sad 2)

    u_u; (Dissapointed/Gah...)

    n_n; (Riiight)

    n_n (Happy)

m_m (Our Scientists haven't found a meaning yet.)

    ^_^ (Happy 2)

    ^_^; (See "n_n;".)

    ^_* (Punched Eye)

    p_p (Crying 2)

    G_G (Wide Eyed/Freaked Out)

    <_< (Look Left 2)

    >_> (Look Right)

    >_< (Upset/Got hit while role-playing)

    >_o (Ouch!)

t(>_ (Half of an angry face/Angry Face turning to the right.)

    ~_^ (Wink/Eh...)

    =^_^= (Cat)

    ?_? (Confused)

    s_s (Weirded out)

    $_$ (ZOMG MONEYZ!!)

a_a (Anaisa Face. You decide what it means.)

    _'s 2: x_x.
These are all variations of the "x_x" emoticon, which either means you were hurt while Role-Playing, or you find something foolish/silly. You can also add sweat-drops (Which are ; and ') or change the mouth, but over-all, it always means the same thing.

    X_X

    x_X

    X_x

    x_x

    The _'s 3.
These are all variations of the o_o smiley, which means a variety of things. Including suprised, confused, weirded out, and more. It all depends on when you use it. You can also change the mouth, but it will always mean the same thing. Changing one of the two eyes to a . or -, however, makes it look like a sleepy smiley. Adding a sweat-drop changes the meaning of the emoticon from suprised, shocked, and/or weirded out, into nervous, scared, and/or embaressed.

    Section 2: Sideways.
The : sign is meant to represent a pair of eyes. You can also switch it to ; to have one eye blinking. To add a nose, you put a - sign in between the nose and mouth. Some emoticons look odd without a nose, so in the list, I had some of the emoticons have noses. Also, if you switch the : or ; to a period or comma, then it looks like the emoticon only has one eye.

    Sideways 1: The :'s.

    D:< (Frustrated

    >:D (Diabolical)

    :3 (Cat/Walrus)

    :) (Happy)

    :> (Happy 2)

    :] (Happy 3)

    :x (Can't tell 2)

    The :'s 2: Hats.
The signs on the far left of the emoticons are hats. The {'s and ('s can be used to represent hair as well as hats. The / is a tipped hat. Reversing the {'s and ('s [ } & ) ] make them Samurai/Viking Helmets. Reversing the / [ \ ] makes it a hat tipped in the other direction.

    Sideways 3: The Shades!
The B is meant to represent either Sun Glasses or Normal Glasses. Wether it is Normal or Sun depends on the mouth.

    The Shades 1: Normal

    B-3 (Cat/Walrus)

    >B-D (Diabolical)

    B-) (Happy)

    X-B (Nerd)

    Section 3: Miniature ASCII Art.
Mini ASCII Art is a kind of text emoticon that shows you a situation and/or object rather than an emotion.

(>^(>O_O)> (2 people. The paranthesis are sides of the bodies. The >'s are arms. the ^ is a "happy" type of eye. The _ is a mouth. the two O's are freaked out eyes. I think the person on the left freaked out the person on the right.)

That is a huge list. I usually respond to all the ones with letters in the same way, but since I have a list for them, it will be easier to understand someone's inflection. It's easier to remember the first two sections.

Now that I know, the world will tremble. But half the ones in ShlupQuack section should be in the miniature ASCII section, but whatever works for you, then run with it. Nice compile.

I generally don't use emoticons, except XD, which was lacking in this compile, and one of the most important emoticons. Or I missed it.

I suppose I should stop being lazy and put ShlupQuacks Emoticons in the list properly. o.o (Begins to edit)

I prefer it when instant messanger clients and forums don't convert my smilies (well as a whole. trillian and eoff emoticons are fun xD) because I work hard to get an exact representation of the emotion I am trying to convey.

Well, in my side-ways section, I do say that you can switch the : to a ; for a winking eye. But I forgot all the underscore emoticons you mentioned. Thanks for pointing them out. n_n
