Default Radio Edits

Don't you just hate when radio stations take it upon themselves to ruin a perfectly good song? Gimme the best (or worst, rather) radio edits you can think of.

The two that spring to my mind are Everlast's "What It's Like" and Dave Matthews Band's "Crush". What It's Like has some risque content, but the local station decided to edit about half the damn song. Crush, on the other hand, is a brilliant 8-minute piece that they tore apart and put on the air under 4. Sigh.

I hate edits, but especially when they put them on CD. I don't mind Radio Edits, if it's one I have, I can just listen to it on CD.

The only reason I see for radio editing is if it were on a kid's music station, but then again, why would anybody place the song on the air in the first place?

Basically, I think radio editing is stupid.

I don't have a problem with radio censorship, since there's a sensible reason for it. What is irritating, however, is when songs are shortened for radio play, or when the DJ talks over intro/outro. The way I see it, if you're a music station, the music should take precedence over the presenter. Sadly, no-one seems to do it this way.

Radio edits and all kind of remixes are really pathetic.

The only good thing is Werid Al who covers(not remix) and he is really funny.

If you're talking about radio edits like, where they edit out "possibly offensive terms", then yeah, those are annoying and idiotic. However, I actually like radio edits of dance songs that would otherwise go one for eight to ten minutes.

I think it's funny how Kidz Bop takes songs that are about sex, drugs, etc., edit them down, and then have a group of kids sing them.

There's this one song by Gorrilaz called Feel Good Inc. or something like that. I sort of like it. I don't love it, but I can tolerate it when it comes on the radio. However, the station I listened to work suddenly started playing a cut up version of the song. I thought it was a CD skipping or something at first until I heard it this way more than once.

Basically, they cut out the rap verses. So you get the one guy singing his part, then wham, you get that guy singing his part again. It sounds horrible. Even if you had no idea that the song wasn't supposed to be that way you would notice something wrong.

I don't know if I explained that very well or not.

You explained that very well ^_^ O_o But how odd is that? Are those rap lyrics offensive?

The radio around here is weird. Some songs will get the word ass bleeped or scrambled. Some songs won't! Same for the word bitch. Obviously the major curses are all censored. But sometimes even that is iffy. Remember that Gwen Stefani song where she says "that shit is bananas" or something like that? They would cut out the i and it would sound like "that sht is bananas". What's the point?

I've noticed that it's pretty inconsistent on what they do. But the Gorrilaz song takes the cake as they cut out entire verses. Don't play the song at all if you're going to do that.

I think if a band wants their song on the air they should abide by the rules. Don't cuss in a song if you want it broadcasted. Not a hard concept to grasp
