I remember hearing when I was around 11 that some kid on a cruise ship died because he went underwater looking for the pineapple under the sea that Spongebob lived in. And that week, Spongebob didn't air, so I totally believe it then. I dunno if it's true now, but it's most likely not. xD

All joking aside, it depends on how you look at it.

You could take it the literal way: It is an innocent children's song about a little boy plays with his dragon in a magical little land. Until eventually, the boy grows up and loses interest in the dragon, and the poor lizard is left all alone without saying goodbye.

Or, you could take the metaphorical way: A boy discovers marijuana, and continues to smoke it (Hence the "Puff"), and he does this throughout his life. The line "Dragons live forever, but not so little boys" can imply death. Meaning, the drug-addicted boy died in some way or another, and since marijuana is a plant, its lifespan exceeds a person's.

Excuse me for thinking too much. It is 2 in the morning, and I am sick as smurf.
