Man, I get tired of that statement. Most people can't afford to just up and move house even within their own country - it's a costly procedure. To move to another country entirely is often even more difficult, because there is not only a notable price tag attached but also a horrific amount of red tape to go through to live in many desirable places. Things like immigration limits and whatnot can make it very, very difficult to move to other countries. So as much as somone might want to move, chances are organizing, funding, and enacting it is something which would take at least a couple of years to put together, often much longer if you've got to get lucky enough to get a Green Card or whatever.
And that assumes your family is happy coming with you, if you live with a wife/husband or whatever.
