Back when Claremont was writing X-men, the phrase "I got better" was milked pretty heavily, and eventually became something of a joke. just including the ringtone as a bit of fan service lacked. I thought it would be better if the FFVII posse wipes the floor with a group of thugs, only to have the cell phone go off with everyone wondering "WTF is going on here"; and then to have tifa answer the phone and have the cast react with suitable disgust at the in-joke that's been made at their expense.
