    Default benedict domum nostrum dominum

okay, so that's just what's engraved on our mantle above the fireplace, but whatever.

It sounds like a good chant (rather than God Bless Our Home).

Anyways, it's baseball and softball season, and twelve year olds around the states and elsewhere I suspect are crying out with time honored chants.

That is, if their coaches haven't deemed them too 'damaging' to the delicate psyches of their opposing team.

Now, I haven't played in an organized summer ball team in several years, but I still remember many of those lovely songs we sang. Here is a sampling.

Down by the old rock cemetary [repeat after verse]
That's where your team's gonna be buried
Six feet wide and twelve feet under
When we hit the ball it's gonna sound like thunder
    Thunder, thunder, thunderation!
We're the best team in the nation!
I like peaches [repeat after verse]
    I like cream
    I like our team
    Because we're mean

    Those who like us
    Like us well
    Those who don't
    Might as well

    Sound off- 1, 2
    Sound off- 3, 4
    Bring it on down now:
    One two, three four!
    Our team is what?
    Dynamite!
    Our team is what?
    Dynamite!
    Our team is
    ticktickticktickticktickticktick
    BOOM! Dynamite!

    Their team is what?
    Dynamite!
    Their team is what?
    Dynamite!
    Their team is
    ticktickticktickticktickticktick
    Hold up! Wait a minute!
They ain't got no BOOM in it!
I see a hole and [batter]'s gonna find iiiiiiiiiiiiiit [echo] [echo] [echo]
(after four balls and a walk) There she goes just a'walkin' down the line
Singing doowadiddy diddy dum diddy doo
Next batter up says "Walk me too!"
How many others remember these. . cherished pieces of summer lore?

Now Hoggy's the king of the swingers, whoa,
    An England V.I.P
He has a bowl, we have a song,
The Aussies are out by tea, oh

    OOBEE-DO
    I wanna bowl like you-oo-oo,
yeah don't wanna bat like you,
    just bowl like you do-oo-oo,

    oh yes it's trueee
    I wanna bowl like you-ooo
    I wanna bowl like you
    Not bat like you do

I remember hearing those at my sister's softball games, but I don't remember the boy's leagues being so cruel. Hearing those things would've made me cry

Oh my god that brings back memories!

Except my softball team was really mean with it's cheers. We'd start talking to the first baseman and try to piss her off while in the dugout. My friend would always go, "heey first baseman!" and we'd go "I saw your boyfriend!" and then we list numerous occasions and places where he cheated on her with one of us. I swear the other teams hated us. But it was funny.

    I was in softball and I never heard any sort of chant, ever. It sounds frightening. ;_____;

Maybe it's an older kid thing, since I only was in softball until I was 8.
