Thread: Dragon Warrior Monster of sorts

Default Dragon Warrior Monster of sorts

Well I've played both, but that's the closest I've ever come to playing a Dragon Quest game, other than VIII, and it's kind of the same if you pursue the Monster Arena alot. I was just wondering if you guys ever played them, or count them as official Dragon Quest kinds of games, or if they're non-canon.

Dragon Quest Monsters, yes. They're spin-off games.

I absolutely loved them, all of them, a TON. I hope they make a third, and a fourth. At least. But are the real Dragon Quest games? And it says Dragon Warrior Monsters on the box, so I call them DWM, even though they're really Dragon Quest monsters.

    They're cannonical alright...

DQM1 takes place in the Heaven trilogy (IV-VI), specifically featuring Terry and Mileyu from DQVI as the main characters (albeit younger versions of them). DQM2 supposedly also takes place during the Heaven series, though I'm unclear as to how it fits in.

There was a third DQM game released for the GBA called DQM Caravan Hearts, but it was never released in the US because... Well... Square-Enix doesn't care about DQ in the US, and the game was released in Japan right before the merger. It features Keifer from DQVII, but he gets transported to the world of DQII, so it ambivalently fits into both the Roto trilogy (I-III) and the current unnamed trilogy (VII-IX). I can't tell you more about it than that.

The assumption is that the games officially happened in the timeline of the series.

Oh. Yeah, do you like to play them? I'm surprised many Dragon Quest fans don't know these games. of course I knew these games before I even know what Dragon Quest was. So there you have it. =)
