Am I the only one who can't stand kids being heroes in movies? You know the kind - kid outsmarts adults, people rely on kids to save the world, that sort of thing. I mean, I don't mind small-scale stuff like Home Alone, where a kid managed to outsmart a couple of dumbass bandits in his own home for the sake of comedy... but saving the world and outsmarting 'evil empires' and all that sort of thing? That bugs me. They can't do that! Grrr. Bloody upstarts, I tell ya. Leave the heroic deeds to the adults. Especially in serious movies.

I remember how quick you were to speak against Agent Cody Banks when I wondered in my LJ whether he or Neo would win a fight.

Seriously, it's stupid. It's not cute, it's not funny, it's not original. Knock it off, Hollywood.

Heheh, Holden is from the American classic book, Catcher in the Rye. He intensely dislikes the phony stuff in the adult world.

If the movie's for kids, then there's nothing wrong with it, since they're only appealing to their target audience after all. But in a normal film, that sort of thing just goes beyond suspension of disbelief and starts getting stupid. Like when Anakin blew up the Trade Federation ship in Star Wars Ep. I (and completely by accident at that). How the hell are we supposed to take that scene seriously?

You're just jealous because they're saving the world from evil galatic empires and you aren't.

Whatever happened to realistic adolescent adventure like the Goonies? I agree with BoB, screw the Spy Kids.

You know what happens when you don't let kids become heroes? They become Darth Vader.

Does this mean that we won't see any kids become heros in wrestling? I would enjoy watching a 70 pound 12 year old lay the smack down on a 330 pound guy in tights.

No! you're not the only one, ESPECIALLY in hollywood movies

Most of those films with Kids being the heroes are aimed at kids generally. Im sure Kids would rather see there own sort doing to heroic stuff than the adults.
