Monk: Justin
White Mage: Sarah (before I knew the Princess was named Sara)
Black Mage: Arcana
no real reason behind the names. Just fit them that's all.
Then (GBA)
Warrior: Cloud
Monk: Sabin
WM: Aerith
BM: Vivi
Nex time (GBA):
Warrior: Leon (ex-knight)
Monk: Richter (can kick, slide, uppercut, back-flip)
Red Mage: Alucard (can cast a few spells and use a variety of cool weapons)
Thief: Hector (Can steal, quite nimble)
Those are all names from the Castlevania series
