deciding a party...

right now i'm hunting kuja and i can't decided weather or not to use dagger or eiko for my healy person...and i'm thinking of using freya but i am also not sure of that...i need help deciding

Dagger has more Eidolons, Eiko has more superior White Magic. Its your decision. Personally, I go with Zidane, Freya, Quina and Dagger. As soon as I reach Madain Sari I drop Dagger in favour of Amarant.

Yep Forest Owl has a very good party with Zidane, Freya, Quina, and Amarant, but sometimes I like to trade out Freya or Amarant with Vivi

i think a good party all the way though the game is Zidane (duh!) garnet eiko and vivi as few bosses are strong against magic.

Problems with the above team.

Low HP - no durability
Very MP thirsty with no way of recovering MP without using items
Quite demanding regarding abilities. They require a lot of AP and take up too many Magic Stones.
None of the characters (apart from Zidane) have a guarunteed 9,999 damage attack.

Untrue. Zidanes Thievery will do 9999 damage, and Vivi's Flare +Reflect X2 should do 9999. If not, it won't do less than 7000. (And seriously, aside from a low level game, when will you need to do more than 7000 damage per attack?)

I always pick whomever I like best. Although, at this point in the game Dagger can't "concentrate" and sometimes her commands don't go through. Eiko is probably your best bet right now, but I usually pick dagger anyway.

ive beaten this game twice all the way through and kuja hundreds of times< my 1st time i used zidane, vivi, dagger, and eiko, this is really good i had very little probs, the occasional either here and there but, and this was with out, 2xreflect, or any of those fance tricks that do 9999 damage, 2nd time through zidane, vivi, aramarant, freya, ork perfectly no probs at all, aramarant is great to have in trance especailly against necron

Zidane, Amerant, Vivi, and Dagger. Cause they rock. Though about switching Dagger for Fraya, but decided on keeping the healing.

Instead of using the white mages, I sometimes give everyone auto-regen and then let Amarant do the healing if auto-regen isnt fast enough

auto-regen is way enough. dont even bother with auto-potion, you waste your money. also, in boss fights like Kuja and Necron, auto-regen heals your characters by the time Dagger/Eiko can use curaga, so if you want one of them just-in-case, use Dagger cause she has more attack options, and i find her physical attack a bit stronger than Eiko's, and that's not beacause of levels/weapons (on my data)

Eidolons arent that useful in FFIX IMO, sure Ark does alot, but its still not going to save your ass most of the time.
Thats why Eiko is the better of the two, cause she has one attack, one very important attack, Holy. End Of.
I think Zidane, Steiner, Eiko and Quina are the best team.

I find the best team differs depeding on what boss you happen to be fighting.

For all the final battles I use a standard party of Zidane, Vivi and Freya (Zidane cos Thievery is rather awesome, Vivi because as nik0tine said Flare with Reflect x2 is rather good and Freya because she's just sooo cool with the jumping and all). For the final member I switch between Eiko and Dagger. The reason I do this is because they are both excellent against different things. I use Eiko against anything which is weak against holy (Hades, Necron, etc) for her Madeen summon and Holy White Mag, and I use Dagger against most other things for her variety of eidolons (I just generally pummel Trance Kuja with Bahamut or Ark summons). What I can't yet decide is who to use against Ozma. Is he weak against Holy at all?

Um, why not both white mages? You can fill the last slot with whatever you wish, and rarely be short on healing.
