Exactly, just like in every other FF there's a Cid, an airship, and an extreemly powerful sword/katana called the Masamune.

For the same reason Chocobos, Moogles, Crystals, and the Prelude are all in the game or referenced in some way or another.
The first Cid was in FFII, although in remakes of FFI, they mention a Cid in legend.
Who could forget Headmaster Cid...Cid is just one of those things that cannot vanish maybe one of the game producers is called Cid and that´s why there is always a Cid.
Although i prefer the Biggs and Wedge characters
