Default Dirge of Cerebus to go through extensive localization(Changes for the US release)

We all know about Square-Enix's huge addition to the Final Fantasy VII story line. Dirge of Cerebus, released in Japan last year, took the story arch to another level with its emphasis on run and gun action gameplay over the series RPG roots.

Square-Enix has finally revealed the details behind Dirge of Cerebus' North American release, and they have noted some huge changes to gameplay.

Some of the smaller corrections were speeding up Vincent Valentine's running and gun drawing, with an addition of new weapon upgrades that will further increase your speed. Vincent's dive evasion is replaced by a quicker dash move, and his special attacks will no longer tax his magic and instead rely on one time use only Limit Break items. Vincent will also have the ability create melee combos as well as attack enemies in mid air. Since North American's will have an advantage due to the new abilities, there will no longer be an Easy mode to play from, but instead a Normal, Hard, and Extra Hard mode.

Last, but not least, is the omission of the title's online functionality. Square-Enix cited the lack of use of the PlayOnline service and instead incorporated the extra levels used in Dirge of Cerebus' online mode into its Extra Hard mode.

Hopefully these improvements will help the game after it's less than stellar release in Japan.
