Ignoring the petty squabbling about Sony "ripping off" Nintendo, I'm glad that the pad design has stayed the same. The boomerang was a perfect example of change for its own sake, and to return to the familiar design is a good decision, since it's an excellent (if not perfect) layout that needn't be altered unless it can be improved upon.
