I don't think the Aqua Hair Person in Versus is a guy.
It's a girl.
(Why else would the title be a woman?)

Anyway, let's hope the main characters are not just one sex. (Girl or Guy).
Because that game will be most likely be favorite to that sex. Not saying that you won't enjoy that but the battle system will be personalised for that. (Exemple FFX-2, Dress Spheres...

Anyway, make it simple, Half of the group are girls, and the other Half are men.
Beast not included.

And make it so everyone will enjoy.

It'll still have the ATB and it'll have more Vertical Standpoint.
