    art deco = ugly buildings in Miami Beach
    art nouveau = pretty pictures

    I like them both, but if I really had to choose I'd have to go for Art Deco. I love those old buildings.

    Art deco architecture is nice, but shows its age. Badly. It's a rather dated style that only really 'works' if you happen to be in an area that's got a lot of buildings from that era. Art nouveau, however, tends to have a bit more lasting appeal. Deco's just a bit too inorganic for my taste.
