Then you should pick, IX or VI, VI comes with V on the Anthology pack two for the price of one.
There's Anthology with FF5 and FF6 and there is Chronicles with FF4 and Chrono Trigger and Origins with FF1 and FF2...and of course, there is FF Tactics. These are all good, but everyone is bound to have their own opinions for each game so it will be difficult to go by what anyone else likes.![]()

Go research them all on the net, see which you like the look and sound of and if you can get hold of it. But the idea of getting the Anthology pack isnt bad.i have sum money and want 2 know the best ff on ps1 besides ff7 and 8
I liked IX more than VII or VIII, but that's just me. Of course I still say that Tactics trumps any of the numbered Final Fantasies hands down.
It really depends on what you want. Most of the earlier FFs, which are available in collection packs, are fantasy-based (as is IX). FFVI is somewhat steampunk, but still pretty definitively fantasy. VII and VIII are both different in that they're modernistic/sci-fi stories, but generally Final Fantasy is, well, fantasy.
If you tell us what you're looking for in a game, we can probably help you more.
Get FF9 or FFT, I'd say. The SNES classics can be emulated for free. Then if you enjoy them, you can but them just for the sake of owning them.

can you hear me in the void?
Buy a book of knowledge, that's worth more than FF.Originally Posted by leon123
Anyway, get either FFT, FFIX or FFVI.

Amen to that. FFTactics is very nice. It can be tough to find, though.Originally Posted by Behold the Void

Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

FFIX. Then download and emulate the SNES and NES ones.
WICKED-AWESOME SIG.
IX or Tactics is what you want. IX if you like the more traditional RPG, Tactics if you like strategy and a good story.

Yea this would be a tough choice because really, they are all good in my opinion. I'd go with the older graphics and progress towards the newer one's; unless of course you are unbias about lack of graphics affacting your gaming experience. I favor a good story over graphics anyday (especially with FF games).
My favorites were FFIX and FFV. But if you hit up the FFV option, you get a bonus with FFVI as a part of the Final Fantasy Anthology compilation. Enjoy your gaming man.
